Ashfaq Husain, son of Istafa Husain was active in politics from his student life. He was the Member of Parliament in the seventh Lok Sabha from Maharajganj constituency near Gorakhpur. When first Minorities Commission was formed in Uttar Pradesh, he was one of the charter members of that Commission. He has traveled to many countries in the world, including United States, USSR, Czechoslovakia and United Kingdom. He has written hundreds of articles related to the weaker sections of the society. He married Safia Khatoon, daughter of Aulad Husain and Rabia Khatoon of Gorakhpur. All three of his sons, Tanvir, Parvez, and Asim followed his brother-in-law, Ausaf Husain, and settled in the United States.
He has authored the following books:
